Hounslow Educational Psychology Service

What is our role?
‘To promote child development and learning through the application of psychology by working with individual and groups of children, teachers and other adults in schools, families, other LEA officers, health and social services and other agencies.’ (Report DFEE of the Working Group, on Educational Psychology Service, 2000).

Who we are:
We are all qualified psychologists with postgraduate training in Educational Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society. We are all qualified teachers with teaching experience.

What we do:
• Psychological consultations and advice to schools on both an individual and organisational level.
• Advice on the psychological and the educational implications of children and young people’s difficulties.
• Working in partnership with teachers and parents to support the special educational needs of children.
• Psychological assessments and recommendations of children’s and young people’s special educational needs.
• Liaise and work in partnership with agencies and professionals, within and outside Hounslow.
• Help with the setting of realistic targets and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Providing training (INSET) for schools, and other agencies within Hounslow.
• Contribute to Local Authority (LA) initiatives, policies and projects.
